Baking is my passion, a passion best shared with others.

I’m in my mid 20’s, live in Sydney, Australia and love to cook and share the food that my husband and I make. Although I have many favourite foods which I cook often, I also love trying new food out as well as cooking new food and best of all trying something fantastically tasty at a restaurant and then searching the net and finding a great recipe to replicate it at home.
This is one of the reasons I have started this blog. I now visit quite a few food blogs, since my work friend introduced them to me and thought this would be a great way for me to share my cooking adventures with those who have inspired me, including family, friends and other food bloggers.
I love chocolate (I know everyone admits to that quite quickly), cake, biscuits and deserts (self saucing puddings and soft centred puddings – yum)!! I do also love savoury food – it’s not all sweets for me. My bookshelf is full of cookbooks (mainly sweet ones), food magazines and my university science textbooks – which you will be happy to hear, I do not use when cooking.
I hope you enjoy my food blog, please feel free to leave a comment, or contact me at anita [at] leaveroomfordessert [dot] com
I wish you all wonderful cooking, baking and eating! And remember, always leave room for dessert…
Anita

is your brownie recipe on your blog! i couldn’t find it but wanted to comment about it!
Hi Sarah
Just added the brownie recipe, now you’ll be able to go on and see it! Glad you like it so much, I tend to use the recipe quite a bit too
Excellent Website Anita… Can’t wait to use some of these recipes when i have the chance!!!!
Anita,
I love your recipes! I am going to make the White Chocolate Honeycomb mudcake tonight for my daughters 1st birthday!
I love that you are putting up your favourite recipes along with your own comments. I love cooking too and love sharing my favourite recipes with all my friends.
Did you try the snickers brownie that was in Food Ideas back in May as well?
Penny
Hi Penny
Good Luck with the White Chocolate Honeycomb mud cake – it’s fantastic! Thanks, glad you like the recipes – perhaps you too will start up a food blog (I checked out the girlygadgets blog there are some very cute products on there )
I haven’t tried the snickers brownie… yet… have you tried it? I have been recommended the toblerone biscuits from that issue, so they are on my list of things to make.
Thanks for visiting!
Anita
Hi Anita,
I did try it…twice in the week I bought the magazine. It is very nice but very rich. I ended up only putting in 2/3rds of the chocolate in the second time. I have been wanting to try the Toblerone biscuits as well. I make the Mrs Feilds cookies quite often. Would you like me to share any of her recipes with you?
Thanks
Penny
Hi Penny
If you have a favourite cookie recipe or any other great recommendations, I’d be very grateful if you’d share them with me
Wow, it must be good if you’ve made it twice in one week
Thanks heaps
Anita
Hi anita, i found you on richard ffichiban’s website. I was the tupperware demonstrator at Sheryl’s recent tupperware party.
Glad to know that you love tupperware. Would you be interested in a party for yourself? This month would be a great month to hold your party as there is up to $500 worth of free tupperware avaiable to hosts with qualifying sales!
Just one question I wanted to ask, seeing that you put up lots of recipes. My son has an egg allergy, I’d like to know what can I use to substitute for eggs if i’m trying to make a cake??
Hi Anita,
I remembered you had a blog with recipes when I started looking for some recipes for cumquats, as my neighbour has a tree that is dripping with them. The cockys are having a ball (but also making an awful mess) with them.
It’s getting a bit late for me to discover all there is on your blog….but maybe when I get back from Canberra I’ll have more time.
Good luck, and happy cooking…and eating, of course!
Hi Anita,
I just stumbled across your site the other day looking at another recipe site of course. Your site is fantastic, so much easier to choose something to cook when it has been tried and tested…just love the pics for the more complicated recipes.
Will be attemping the Croquembouche this week. Made the Swedish meatballs for tonight very yummy…I added a dash of soy…must be the japanese in me.
Thanks again…
Hi Anita
I read with interest your post about the Masterchef chocolate delice. Would love to hear about your further attempt at it. I’m keen to make it myself but the correctness of the order/method for layering the buscuit base/creme brulee/chocolate cream/chocolate glaze has got me stumped. I’d love to hear if you’ve had success with it. Many thanks for your wonderful blog
Hi Anita – I am so glad you stopped by on my blog http://www.weavethousandflavors.com THANK YOU! I am grateful when a fellow blogger takes the time to visit me because I am in the infant stages of blogging!
Thanks for your kind words. You have a lovely site! I also LOVE Sydney so I am especially glad to meet Sydney bloggers (I went to Uni at UNSW)
Keep in touch -
Ciao, Devaki
Just found your web site Anita, it is fantastic! Just the type of recipes that I like to cook. A lot of them I have tried to perfect myself – especially the curries, pizza and now have a great recipe for a nice dark rich chocolate cake.
Great to see the art of cooking is not a dying trade.
Keep up the good work! ö¿ö
Hi anita I love your site and plan to start trying some of your recipes, i especially love how you explain your experience in the making and the tips you give. In reading your bio you state you love self saucing puddings, I have a choc one that is a favorite in my family, would you like it? I’m new to blogs but assume that you have my email address so mail me let me know and I will post it to you. Keep up the great job!
Hello there Anita ! I came upon your web site while looking for a recipe from bills in Sydney( Ricotta pancakes ) and looked around and poof, there were more recipes and then you. Would you please help me with a question, what is “caster sugar” ? I noticed it in a few of the recipes posted here. I live in the U*S*A and I’m not certain what you are referring to.Thanks so much. Your recipes on here are yumolicious looking…wow..you are an artist!
Best Regards,
Holly
Hi Anita, I am about to host my first ‘fine dining’ posh dinner party and have all courses planned but dessert… I was hoping to attempt ‘Chocolate Delish’ on the MC website and googled it and thankfully found your website with your recipe corrections! I would love your advice about whether it is actually as delicious as it sounds and is it worth all the work? What would you say is your all time favourite desserts for a posh dinner party??? I am lacking recipes that are tried, true & tested and am desperate to impress! Thanks so much for your time and good work on a wonderful website! Angie
Anita,
I had a piece of your V8 cake today (a little piece as Nick was saving the other half for himself). It was amazing! Have to get my wife to give it a go!…

Hi Anita, my daughter’s 24th birthday on 13 Aug and I would like to take her to have the best desserts in Sydney, we live in the East. Can you tell me where to go?
thank you, Paula
Hi Anita,
like you,I’m also a very slim young woman who lives in Sydney and absolutely loves cooking, baking and trying different cuisines and flavour profiles.I especially love making cakes, tarts, pastries and desserts, taking basic recipes and putting my own spin on them, creating something which is pleasant to my palate(and, thankfully, everybody elses’-so far).
Lately,I’ve taken to remaking great desserts which I’ve enjoyed around Sydney, and stumbled on your blog whilst looking for a basic recipe for Ferrero Rocher(or Bon Bon Rocher gelato).I’m so glad you included the recipe from Delicious and think your blog is awesome!
What a great site you have created. I’m making snowegg for my sisters birthday next week-end and feel more confident after seeing your site. Love your comments and pictures of stages. Great work, it looks like you make beautiful deserts.
Hi Anita, What a fabulous website you have – your recipes are just amazing and I really like your down to earth approach, well done. Just wondering if you have any ‘tried and tested’ truffle recipes – getting into the festive spirit here so am looking for delicious rum ball recipes and any others you can recommend. Thanks so much!
Anita – I just stumbled across your site and it is really wonderful! I am loving all your recipes and am totally with you on the whole ‘leave room for dessert’ concept!
Thanks for the inspiration. Cass
Hi Anita
I’m very exited about this site. I really liked your recipes, thankyou so much, in July I’ll visit Australia with my family, Hope it is beautiful as your site is.
Hey,
I am going to try the baci gelato! I love baking and cooking too, as my blog dictates! My latest venture is macarons. Tricky but worth it.

What an awesome blog!
Thanks Anita, I usually don’t look at people’s blogs much but I have really enjoyed yours.
I am about to embark on Adriano Zumbo’s V8 cake (which is why I stumbled on your blog in the first place) and I am very grateful for all your tips.
But now I can’t wait to try the Jocond Impriment & mousse entrements!
Also, can you tell me what the wonderful dessert is at the top of your blog? It too looks like something that needs to be eaten at our house….
Thanks heaps
D.
